Backblip
Our first day in the Lake District. Taking things fairly easy as Guy has pulled a muscle in his leg so is not wanting to do any strenuous walking. Not that we can do strenuous walking any more!
The weather has been fantastic. I don’t think I have ever been here in so much sunshine. We decided to go to Hodge Close for some photography but we’re very disappointed to find that the quarry has been fenced off and there were large no entry signs. I was hoping to get a blip of the lovely silver birches and colourful slate that I remembered from the last time we visited. Oh well we have to remember that things change and go with the flow. Walking down one of the paths I found this old caravan. I could tag it for derelict Sunday but have no idea what number it is up to.
Later we drove to Coniston hoping to find a pub so we could get a refreshing drink and use a toilet but it was packed with no parking to be found. So we drove on to Broughton-in-Furness where we could park and find refreshment. We returned to our hotel in Borrowdale via Windermere and Ambleside which were absolutely heaving. It is the Great North Swim this weekend which explains it. We made a note not to head South tomorrow but stay in the North Lakes.
