Lyndhurst
It took five hours to drive to Lyndhurst today, traffic was awful! We are staying at the Penny Farthing Hotel for just one night. Basic but cheap. When we arrived we walked the high street, which is very familiar. We spent 30 years visiting here several times a year after my parents retired here. Sadly it is no longer a village that has some campers and tourists in the summer, but a trendy tourist destination. Many eateries and ice cream parlours and it’s at last lost it’s allure for me.
We were here however to see my brother and sister in law (pictured). We ate at our favourite Italian restaurant, which has not lost its allure. Fabulous food, wonderful atmosphere and egg laying chickens outside! It’s such a shame it’s five hours away!
We will pop to Brockenhurst for coffee with Peter and Michaele in the morning before heading home. I just hope it doesn’t take so long tomorrow!
