The dropped stitch

Added extras to the working day

There were lots of meters to read on Westray, but with work finished mid afternoon it was great to get a couple of hours to enjoy other things.

First, a visit to the Heritage Centre in Pierowall, which has so much fascinating local history information.
Also, a quick look at the remains of the water wheel at the Trenabie Mill. (see extra). The mill has been converted into a house, but apparently in 2006 the lade still ran and the waterwheel turned. The wheel is in a bit of a sorry state now.

Then, following the road sign to 'Puffins', a walk along the cliff top from the Rapness Watermill. The rain had started by then, but I still managed to get a puffin photo. At times like this I realise the benefits of having a 'proper' camera. Maybe one day?
