Mysterious Menwith Hill
What a glorious day to get some more fresh air. Today it was Fewston and Swinsty reservoirs up in the Washburn Valley that I visited, and enjoyed a welcome re-fuelling stop in the picnic area - see extra!
Today's main shot is a view towards the 'Golf balls' at the secretive Menwith Hill surveillance station. There are over 30 'Golf balls', or radomes, and each is about 30 metres diameter, dwarfing the surrounding buildings. Inside are satellites, transmitters and all sorts of electronic eavesdropping equipment - apparently. They can be seen for miles around and have been the subject of various protests and controversies in the past.
