Vacation #Day 20#. Oldtimer “ FORD”

We and our friends visited Dokkum today.

While we walking along the canals and bridges, this old-timer Ford suddenly arrived.
Here a little bit of History off Dokkum.

Dokkum is one of the eleven cities of the famous "Elfstedentocht" from Friesland.

This Eleven Cities tour is held in the winter, when it has frozen very hard and all rivers and open waters are frozen over. It is a rough journey of almost 200 km.
Here in the north it is the experience of the year with about 1 million visitors.
Unfortunately, this tour has not been run for years because the temperature no longer freezes so hard and long enough to freeze everything. Every year there is hope again, but it never gets cold enough.
Very unfortunate of course. It is a real happening for the Netherlands.
