Vacation #day 19# Dike keepers

In earlier times you had dike guards who guarded the dikes when there was a storm.
They often did this at the risk of their own lives.
This statue was made to honor the Dike Guard
Here you see a scene of an inspection of the dike during a storm. One guard holds the other guard with a rope to protect him from ending up in the sea.
You can also see that he yells loudly to his front guard.
