We went to see 'Amour' (Love) last night - a stunning film (French, of course) about an elderly couple, and their lives when she develops vascular dementia and has a stroke. There is minimal background music - its a very quiet film. The actress got the Best Actress Oscar this year. I can't remember being in a such a quiet cinema when the lights went up - the audience was silent. Most of us were in tears. Its a lovely film, really about love. But also terrifying, and made me think about my own mother after her stroke, and how I felt then.

Not for the faint hearted or fragile.
