Day 70 of 365 - The War Memorial
Welcome to day 70 of 365 (this is the finished image after editing).
The original photo was taken late this afternoon while I was on my way to pick up my daughter from Choir practice. The image is of the Coventry War Memorial and was taken in the War Memorial Park. The park is the largest in Coventry and was opened in July 1921 as Coventry's tribute to the soldiers from the city that lost their lives during the First World War (1914-1918).
The Memorial was built in 1927 and is about 90 feet high. The view is of the front elevation.
Inside the War Memorial is a room called the Chamber of Silence. Each year on Remembrance Sunday, the room is open for the public to view the "Roll of the Fallen", books listing all of the Coventry service personnel who were killed in the two World War's and even as recently as the Gulf War.
As always the shot was taken with my iPhone 5. The photo was taken today using the App 645 Pro for iPhone, saved as a TIFF file. The original image can be found here: Unedited original Image.
First of all I used PhotoToaster to crop, straighten and edit the image. The edits were made by sharpening the image a little then applying a warm filter, a dynamic filter and just a small light Vignette. Next I used an App called Lens Flare, to give the image a highlighted light effect. Finally I finished off the picture using the App ShockMyPic to boost the trees in the background.
