Possibly one of the best places I’ve ever visited
So very very moving . We found my Dads , step dads section , Cyril was his name and I just knew him as Grandad . He fought in North Africa and then Sicily .. he point blank refused to ever discuss it and I believe that he developed a stutter as a result of being in WW2. Jake absolutely loved the afternoon there as he is very very keen on history and also reads up on WW1 & WW2 .. he’s now adding the Falklands conflict to his reading list .
You need about 4/5 hours to see the majority of this place but I only saw half of it so we will go back .
The gap in the wall is cleverly designed to let a shaft of sunlight through on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month . You can just read it if you zoom in on this photo ...
We were with my mum and dad today . My dad joined the RAF for his national service. 1958 when he was 18 and did 3 years . I could do at least 12 blips today , I’ve popped a couple in extras. One of them is a monument to the parachute regiment and one to the RAF xx
