Bugfest...
Went for a stroll round Wick Pond in Home Park this morning. I was really looking to catch some mint leaf beetles but only saw three, one of which features as extra shot 1.
The pond is surrounded by water irises which make for great backdrops for insect macros. The main blip is of a demoiselle - although I can't quite decide which one. This was the only one I spotted amongst literally thousands of common blue and variable damselflies, many of which were engaged in creating the next generation as seen in extra 2.
Extra 3 was one of six cygnets cruising the pond with its parents. I couldn't decide whether it was looking at its own ugly duckling reflection or eyeing up the next patch of pond weed to eat.
