Squirrel playground

We went to Threave Gardens today.  We were very taken with them, and would love an opportunity to return.  A delightfully relaxing garden.  Tidy, but not overly manicured.

We spent a significant part of our time there gazing out of the hide at this squirrel playground.  We saw lots of birds, including a nuthatch and a greater spotted woodpecker.  And eventually we were rewarded with a brief visit from a red squirrel.  He didn't use the playground, or eat any food.  He had a brief drink from the pool.  Lovely to see, but the only photo I managed before he left (over the top of the hide by the sound of it) is the one in extras.

We then had to leave, to meet some friends/ex colleagues in Kirkcudbright.   It was lovely to meet them, and we had a pleasant walk around and a cup of coffee sitting outside a cafe.

This evening is cooler, with some rain, and we may get more rain tomorrow.
