First Day...

……………………….of Winter



Taken on our walk around the local estuary this afternoon. A perfect winter’s day with warm sunshine and no wind. And no greyness or rain!

The mountain in the background is Mt Arthur, mid frame shows two light industry buildings on lower High Street and the clouds hover above Brown Acre.

From the WeatherWatch NZ website the first day of winter is the first day of June according to Meteorological dates, but based on Astronomical dates, winter starts on the shortest day, known as the winter solstice.
