A Good Read
Keeping on the theme of public transport (yesterday's blip), I could not fail to notice that the young woman sitting across the passage from me in the train, made a beautiful study, absorbed in her book while listening to her music through large white earphones. Her warm brown coat complemented her brown hair which was highlighted by a shaft of sunlight. Her colourful scarf and book completed a delightful composition, with the shadow side of her face softly lit by reflected light from the open page. I gave the picture a touch of the Dry Brush filter to add a hint of a painterly effect.
The commuters in yesterday's blip were alone with their thoughts. For this young woman, the iconic 1959 novel by Colin MacInnes "Absolute Beginners" was absorbing her attention. In this classic, the author captured the spirit of a generation and created the style bible for anyone interested in the changing scene in London during the era of the first race riots and the lead-up to the swinging Sixties.
