More hugs

Jenny and I had a walk in the morning after we’d managed to make a plan to meet in Edinburgh for a meal to celebrate her birthday and go to the Eardley exhibition. A lot of restaurants we tried were either booked or had doubled in price or had closed down completely. By the time we’d sorted this out to coincide with a day I could get a train booking we’d spent ages, so the riverside walk was a bit rushed. Jenny didn’t want to go through the field with bullocks so it was a yomp over rough ground to bypass them to cut through to Pondicherry and home. Just in time before the heavy rain.

After she left we went to Morpeth where I had a long-awaited appointment with the NHS physio. It was all very rushed - she quickly showed me some strength exercises but I’m not confident I’m doing the correctly. She’s sending me a video to show me what to do.

Then we were in time to pick up the boys from after-school club. We’d been so busy we weren’t aware that North Tyneside was now on a new alert for the so-called Indian Covid variant. Typically the government didn’t tell MPs or councils that they’d advised people not to enter or leave the area. Nor have they told pubs etc to close. What a mess. Thomas had a cold and cough last week and his Dad got it from him. They both had negative tests. So we went in the house and had cuddles with the boys. They showed me their rooms which I’d not been in for 18 months. I had to play some mad game with laser guns. Then we treated them to a deliciousIndian takeaway.

We are both tired - so much socialising added to medical stuff is exhausting!
