Glenkinchie

The Striding Man, symbol of Johnnie Walker whisky, which takes a large part of the output from the Glenkinchie distillery, and Bruce, the dog, who was an important part of the rodent control at Glenkinchie in the 1920s.

We had a great tour of the distillery, with a really enthusiastic guide, Willie (1st extra), who clearly enjoyed his job.  And a tasting session afterwards.  Apart from the presence of masks, and the much greater awareness of how close you are to other people, it was almost normal life.

Afterwards, we drove to Lauder, had a late lunch at The Lauderdale Hotel, and did a bit of shopping

Then we drove on to Melrose, did a little more shopping, before starting for home.  Outside Melrose, we stopped at the Leaderfoot viewpoint, to admire the railway viaduct and the old road bridge over the River Tweed.  And then on to Scott's View, with the wonderful views over the Tweed, to the Eildon Hills.

The weather was variable, with a cold wind, but generally dry until we were back in the car to return to our digs.
