Bamboozled ....

It was an indoor day today with much crucial admin achieved.

My Blip shows one of our IKEA purchases. It is a bamboo stand that holds iPads and iPhones.

Bamboo is a highly sustainable material source and looks ageless on any desk.

As a keen former cricketer I was brought up on the summer sound of leather ball on willow bat. I learnt today that cricket bats are now being made from bamboo. This can be grown adjacent to the Indian bat factories and reduce the need to grow, hew and transport English willow all that way. Incredibly, for the purist cricket spectator there is absolutely no difference in the sound a leather ball makes when hit by a willow or bamboo bat. However, if the ball is struck in the middle of the bamboo bat the natural spring causes the ball to travel further and faster than the same stroke using a willow one!
