Two-Day Old Coot Chicks

On Thursday I blipped a photo of some cute cygnets at Killingworth Lake; while we were there we checked on the coots' nest and found that Mum was still sitting there with no chicks to be seen. Yesterday on my walk I noticed that the chicks had hatched, but I didn't have my long lens with me. This morning we went there again for a good look and were delighted to find that there's 5 chicks in the brood. As usual I took far too many photos: there's two here and more on Google Photos. They're very cute in their baldy ugliness!

(They seem to be 4 days later in hatching than last year.)
