Diary of an Edinburgher

Scaffolding gone!

I was up and out early today to go to Uncle A’s flat and pick up a few more things for him in hospital. Of course, it was rush hour, so it took me longer, but at least the car park nearest the main entrance of the hospital had spaces. It’s quite a walk from the other parks, but of course - I can practise my ‘proper walking’.

The nurse told me that the people who make decisions would be coming round the wards in the afternoon. In which case, he’s unlikely to be out today - it takes so long to be discharged. And if he needs a lift home, then all he has to do is ring me... I’m a bit pi**ed off with not knowing, and not being able to ask anyone, and not hearing from the man himself, though he does know how to use his phone. And anyway, he got a nurse to text me once. I await instructions.

However, on a more positive note, when I arrived home the scaffolding chaps were there to take it all away. Good - we were worried they’d just leave it there for ages, as so often happens. But it was plonked right in our front garden, which hasn’t got its newly bought spring plants in yet. But the afternoon was too cold and miserable to bother with gardening, so we watched another episode of ‘The Pact’ which is quite watchable.

My doctor rang for a chat re the back specialist’s thoughts on my sore knees/legs, but alas, she doesn’t think it’s what he suggested. However, I’ll go and see her for a chat next week.

Elizabeth came to take Archie out today instead of Saturday - she’s away at the weekend, but couldn’t miss out on her day with him. For the first time in more than a year, she came in for a wee glass of wine when she brought him back. Getting back to normal!
