The Fruits of Labor
We could not have asked for a more pleasant day. If only I had more stamina to take advantage of it. After breakfast, I admired the flowers in our front garden and took a few photos. Then we tackled another area out back by our heating units. The variegated vinca vine must be pruned severely each spring to keep it away from the condensers but I prefer to wait till it has stopped blooming. Hubby helped me get rid of the tiny weeds that creep in and then he mulched the area. I believe we found the bunny nest which we did not disturb and unfortunately, we spotted evidence of wood boring bees. We pruned all the shrubbery on the right side of our property, mostly lilacs, a weeping cherry and Japanese dogwood. It is usually covered in blooms but they are sparse at the moment. Since it was time for lunch, we took a break. Hubby grilled burgers. We’ve decided to eat our main meal at lunch during the summer. We picked up his car with the repaired fuel pump and shopped for a few groceries. On the way home, we agreed a half day laboring in the sun is enough so we will do more planting tomorrow. I’ll make a chef salad for dinner, hubby will attend his KofC meeting and we’ll call it a day. I’m thinking God gives us old folks aches and pains so we are forced to work less and enjoy more of life. Perfect concept. Thanks for stopping by.
