Magnolias

We called again at Caerhays Castle on the way home.
Of all the Spring gardens in Cornwall this is still our favourite.
Partly because of the castle itself, the wonderful setting and the views of the sea .
Also the collection of Magnolias, camellias, and rhododendrons.
It is only open in Spring, as this is very much a Spring garden.

In the two weeks we have been in Cornwall, more of the magnolias had opened out, but some of the camellias were now past their best. It would be lovely to be able to visit it every couple of weeks at this time of year to see the changes.
We were lucky with a beautiful sunny day, and the gardens sheltered us from the cool breeze.

After lunch in the cafe, we then went on to stay with our friends in Sommerset.
