Have Camera Will Travel

Will we won’t we.

That was our dilemma this morning as the weather didn’t look very promising, so waterproofs packed we drove to Downham Market.named the Ginger Bread Town because of distinctive brown Carr stone used in the older buildings

We parked the car and headed for the clock in the centre of town - the start our 6 mile walk, we carry on past the railway station and come to a metal stile that leads us up to the riverbank and the Fen Rivers Way, there was evidence that cows use this path and sure enough up ahead there was about five or six standing between us and the gate, we passed and one followed us right to the gate.

We leave the river at the Denver Sluice, (an amazing piece of engineering ) and carry on up the road for about a mile until we reach the windmill which dates from 1835 and was used to grind corn until 1941 when it was hit by lightning  we walk through the village of Denver where I spot Aunt Sally resting in an old chimney pot.

We leave the village and pass the church and then follow the cycle trail back to Downham Market.

Once back in the car we drive to Oxborough in the hope of seeing Oxburgh Hall but it is under renovation and covered in scaffolding we did stop at St Johns church and took some pictures.

Back at the camp site and a beer for Mr PC and a glass of something cold for me.
