Sea to Sky

My bad back had improved enough to go for a walk on Kelling Heath with H this morning. We did the whole walk without showers, then it chucked it down within a minute of getting in our cars - good timing! The view over to Weybourne was interesting today as the sea was so calm and it was difficult to see where the sea ended and the sky started. This also gave the impression that the ship was flying!

20.1m in the UK are now fully vaccinated, that’s 38.2% of all adults. The Health Secretary said following an Oxford study, there’s a ‘high degree of confidence’ that vaccines protect against the Indian variant, although 5 have been hospitalised in Bolton who’d only had 1 jab and there’s 1 case of someone hospitalised after 2 jabs although that person is very frail. He also said that the vast majority of those hospitalised in Bolton had been eligible for a jab but had not yet had one. He defended the Govt decision not to put India on the Red List earlier, but it wasn’t a convincing argument. The director of public health at Blackburn with Darwen tweeted that ‘An additional supply of over 1,000 per day (Pfizer) for the next two weeks for both high variant spread areas and all residents over 18 (subject to eligibility). India is still getting c300k new cases and c4k deaths a day.
