Lazy Sunday....
...so I went to work.
Got all my furring strips up for the new bath and shower enclosure and screwed the bath in as well. One small problem on a corner where there is a manufacturing defect in the fiberglass that makes the edge stick a little proud. Tapped some holes around it, but when I screwed one in the defect started to slowly shattered. Backed the screw off and it seemed 'happier', ended up taking the screw out which seemed to solve the problem. Not too worried as that corner still have about 4 more screws in the upright to hold it nicely, and the bath now has the best part of 20 screws for the rest of it.
I gingerly stepped in the bath to see how it held and it was pretty firm, a little jump seemed to indicate that it was holding pretty much steady. Everything seems sturdy from what I can tell.
The bath doesn't sit level though....doh...but at least it leans towards the drain rather than away from it. Not noticeable now, and I'm hoping the shower enclosure has enough play to hide it.
All in all, quite pleased so far. With any luck I can grab the insulation for that back wall early tomorrow, get the enclosure up and screwed in, drywall the remaining parts, and after lunch get the whole lot mudded. I see no reason why the next bit shouldn't go quickly.
Once mudding is done, then it'll be sanded, remudded and sanded, then primed, then painted, and then the new vanity and bog fitted. What will take the time now is the drying time for the bathroom - got to figure out how as I don't want to be waiting all week for it to dry.
A photograph of little Mason. It would appear this morning's game of Anal Rape got a bit energetic and JB stepped on him rather hard. He yelped in pain, and seems to have twisted his rear left knee. He seemed ok shortly afterwards and has been running around fine since, making some big jumps (for someone with a bad knee), but we notice that he's favouring the other rear leg at the moment which suggests he's a little uncomfortable. No pain that we can find though.
