Seacliff

It was lovely to sit outside the Old Smithy in Tyninghame, well-wrapped against a chilly East breeze for our lunch then drive to Seacliff to walk on the beach.

We enjoyed the intrepid actions of surfers and paddleboarders (extra photo). There were eider duck and drake, a pair of tern and the ubiquitous oyster catcher but the stars of the show were the gannets, flying East then West. I was puzzled that none were diving for fish, but whiffling to the surface of the sea, until we realised that they were collecting seaweed to carry to their nests on the Bass Rock.

When nearer home we realised that the sun had broken through and the afternoon became quite warm but we were happy with our day in the fresh sea air.
