Sophie Takes Assembly
We collected Sophie from school this afternoon for her regular Thursday dance class. When we got home, she wanted to play “Teddy School” which involved teaching the teddies she’d brought with her for her sleepover. She got to teach PE and dancing, while I was put in charge of English and Maths. At the end of “the day”, she took assembly where various teddies were given certificates for their achievements. Here she is leading the applause for them.
We’ve just been reading each other stories before bedtime: she wanted to read one of her old Spot stories, probably among the earliest stories we read to her when she was very young, but asked “Is it OK to still like Spot stories?” It seems she’s already got a sense that it may not be cool to admit to liking what others may think of now as “babyish”. Of course, we reassured her that it was OK to like favourite stories from when you were younger and she proceeded to read them to us with a joy and expression in her voice that brought them freshly to life all over again. Priceless!
Incessant rain meant no golf this morning, though Tess & I did manage a walk.
