Derniers jours

Now after a rather late night out, Hugo and I obviously spent the morning sleeping in! After a very lazy morning we headed into the centre of Bordeaux to do a little sightseeing and touristy things...but not before having some awesome ice-creams in the shape of a flower! So not only did we go and see the Mairie and the cathedral, but we went even more sophisticated and went to the Musée des Beaux-Arts. I have to say, pretty much same old, same old...many paintings of Jesus and some incomprehensible modern art (I don't know why, I just don't get it!)...but still well worth a trip, especially since it is free! The Musée des Beaux-Arts is also situated in the Le Jardin de la Mairie, a pretty space filled with chairs and benches for everyone to chill out on...really nice flowers too, although the fountain wasn't on which was disappointing! Hugo said that the only time the fountains actually are on is when it is really really really hot and mid-Summer; and even though the two of us were wandering around in t-shirts...it still was not hot enough!

We spent rather a lot of time by the river, where this photograph of the Point de Pierre was taken, as it was so sunny and warm (even though the Bordelais were still in coats and scarves!). It was a real toss-up between the photograph I chose to Blip, and another one, but I decided this one summed up Bordeaux a bit better!

In the evening we headed back to the flat and cooked something rather than going out (although I wasn't allowed to do anything, Hugo really is the perfect host!):-
Me: "You cut onions weirdly."
Hugo: "I wanted to stop you from doing anything so I just started cutting"

It being Bordeaux, we of course had a bottle of wine with the meal...and afterwards watched some Dylan Moran and laughed so hard at a particular clip that we had to pause it for fear of exploding! Us being in France, we balanced the English with Gad Elmaleh, a hilarious French comedian and well worth a watch!

Can't believe I'm going back to Caen tomorrow, this week has really flown by!
