Glowering
Alex and I were working down near Cambridge today - the morning was cool, bright and breezy, so much so that several pages of my notes blew off the clipboard while I was taking a photograph. We only realised they were missing when we got back to the car, so had to walk back to our last survey area to look for them. Fortunately, they'd blown into a fenced corner, and had not been whisked into the centre of the lake or onto the nearby main road!
About lunchtime the sky became more threatening, and about 2 p.m., after one fairly close encounter with a heavy shower,
we decided that discretion was the better part of valour, and set off for home. Within about two minutes of leaving the site the heavy rain started, and it persisted for most of the journey. A good call...
Later on the weather brightened up for a while, but it wasn't long before the next set of bruised, rain-sodden clouds arrived, seen here over the sunlit garden. When will it feel properly like spring?
