Lochan and Glen

It was supposed to be overcast today. It wasn't! The sun came out and beamed down on us for most of the day.

This morning Mrs42 and I took a 7 mile walk into the Cairngorm foothills - to the An Lochan Uaine (The Green Lochan - 'lochan' meaning mini loch) and then on to the Ryvoan Pass (and the bothy at the head of the pass).

Apparantly The Green Lochan is so called because that's where the fairies did their washing! Although there's no record of which brand of detergent they used to make the lochan so green...

A lovely walk and beautiful views - more shots on Flickr when we get home.

This afternoon I took the bike ofor a spin around Loch an Eilein, up to and across the Cairngorm Club Footbridge, to the western end of Loch Morlich and then back to Aviemore - about 15 miles in an hour and a half - mostly over very nice trails and paths. The run back to Aviemore from Glenmore along the newish cycle track through the woods is wonderful. And quick.

This is the view above Loch an Eilein looking South - I think that's a sneaky bit of Loch Einich peeking through the trees. I turned it B&W because it felt at the time that the glorious, bright sunshine was washing the colour out of everything.
