Wales - spirit and nature

Couldn’t resist a last stop before we left West Wales. Nevern is a pretty little place, and in it’s ancient church grounds stands this majestic Celtic cross. A lovely fern and tree lined path leads up to The Castle. How impressive this must have been in the 12th century. Now, almost entirely overgrown, it is a lovely place for a picnic, or for enjoying, as we did, the wild orchids - and seeing how nature has taken it back.
Enroute to Nevern, and just before Dinas, we stopped by the side of the road to take in The Lady Stone, it’s visible but inaccessible, behind a metal fence in a field of cows - I would have liked to have touch it, but in these Covid times a virtual hug makes do.
There’s something about these ancient stones that evokes a sense of spirit and the sacred. That is also evoked in me by the beauty of the landscape and the incredible diversity and abundance of the flora and fauna that inhabit it - this is soul food.
I want to thank our hosts Ceridwen and ppatrick - for sharing their knowledge of the area, the history, the wildlife, the mussel beds, and the places of interest. Lovely for me to have met my first fellow blippers. The cottage, Ty Rhost near Fishguard is small, simple and reasonably priced and suited us well, it has lovely private outdoor space and is on Ceridwen’s profile page.
Home now and it’s late, we stopped in Chester to see a friend we’ve not seen for 2 years
