Charles Town
We walked around Charles Town for a bit, then we drove through Fowley on the way to Looe Valley Vineyard.
We drove through Fowley the way Miss SatNav told us to - right through the centre. The streets got narrower and narrower the further we went. The car was shouting at us because the sensors on both sides picked up the buildings and judge them to be too close - which they were. Every man and his dog was walking in the middle of the street. They didn't have a choice as there are no pavements - just a narrow strip of tarmac with shop and house fronts on both sides. We couldn't do anything else than carry on forward. Turning around was impossible and, in any event, the way back was just as scary.
We got lost on the way to the vineyard. The roads also got narrower and narrower the further we went down the valley. There were no buildings, but the hedges were high and the road winding. We stopped at a point to phone and it turned out that we went past it a mile back. They should really invest in better signage.
We're glad we made it as it was interesting. It is a small vineyard - the couple do all the pruning, harvesting, wine making, bottling and labelling themselves. All is done by hand as they are too small for automation.
Weather was overcast and cool. It rained quite hard and got quite cold while we did the wine tasting bit.
Pizzas for tea.
