The Colour Patch

The Colour Patch Restaurant/Cafe has been an iconic eating house in Augusta since the 1950's and it was Mum and Dad's first port of call whenever they travelled down to stay in their humble little holiday house in the town.  In 2014 my young brother and sister-in-law purchased the property with the intention of one day rebuilding it and creating something very special in the town.  Because of Covid border closures I haven't had the chance to visit the rebuilt Colour Patch but obviously followed its construction and opening with great interest.  Last night Mauzee and I had our first meal there and it was sensational and this morning we visited again for brekkie.  Happy to say we also had lunch there and I was finally able to taste test the famous fish and chips (whiting of course).
I have added some extras for your entertainment and the one of me standing by the Colour Patch sign is my favourite.  As long as I have been coming to Augusta and that's over 50 years, this sign has always brought a smile to my face.  Steve and Carol are ensuring that the restaurant AND the sign remain for people to enjoy for many years to come.  It truly is a magnificent rebuild and has created incredible interest.  I hope you enjoy the images I've posted today and believe me the Fish and Chips were SENSATIONAL :)
I should have mentioned that my main image was taken early this morning just before sunrise and if you look closely you'll notice the lights of the Colour Patch in the distance.  The staff were already there setting up for the breakfast customers.  I'm just so proud of what they have both achieved.
