The White Garden, Sissinghurst Castle

No rain overnight. The Met Office were right!

We went to the National Trust property at Sissinghurst Castle today with Bob and Sue and had a grand day out despite the weather being much colder and in the afternoon very grey.

Sissinghurst was the home of Vita Sackvilke-West and Harold Nicolson. It must be one of the top NT places in the country. Only the grounds were open and thankfully, the cafe for takeaway drinks and obligatory scone.

Thus fortified we strolled around these fabulous gardens admiring the spring blooms and the amazing architecture, especially the wonderful brickwork.

It was a struggle to chose just one shot today. This one, in the White Garden just pipped it. I’ve added more in extras.

We ate lunch in our respective cars where it was warmer then set off for a 6 mile loop from the castle to Frittenden and back. And a very enjoyable walk is was too. A couple of roe deer bounded gracefully across our path, there were many birds including buzzards and skylarks. Plenty of cows too which were very inquisitive and in the case of the Jerseys (or Guernseys) very pretty and cute.

Someone very kindly gave a heart for Fauchons House on 27th April but I can find no record in my notifications. Whoever it was, thank you.
