A gift

We had an unexpected visit to our door today from a dog walking friend. He and his wife keep chickens and over the last year or so we’ve got to know them chatting on dog walks and have learned all about their brood of hens.

Today they were kind enough to select eggs for us from three different breeds of chicken and drop them off at our doorstep.

This evening we’ve had the dark brown speckled eggs with dinner. They were delicious and rich. We’ll sample another variety tomorrow. It may sound silly, but this little happening really made my day.
