SURVIVAL

SURVIVAL
I went for another walk around the Country Park today - it was so cold and grey that I decided not to take my G12. Guess what - I saw two blips that I would have taken. So I came home and went back again - meet my friend Mr Mole !

Moles have to eat near to their own body weight every day to have enough energy to create up to 20m of tunnels per day - hence the vast mounds of earth they bring to the surface.
The underground tunnels are constantly extended so that moles can hunt prey. Their eyes are small and hidden behind fur, while the ears are just small ridges in the skin.

So I guess my friend here stayed out too long and, sadly, did not survive. He was just lying, perfectly preserved, by the side of the footpath. Sad creature - his huge and beautiful feet will no longer be - so the answer to the question 'Did the Earth move for you ?- becomes NO !

'Mole,' said the Badger, in his dry, quiet way, 'I perceive you have more sense in your little finger than some other animals have in the whole of their fat bodies.'
Kenneth Grahame - The Wind in the Willows

Have a grand weekend all.
