Carapace Detail
The carapace is the dorsal (back), convex part of the shell structure of a turtle, consisting of the animal's ribcage combined with dermal bone (thank you Wikipedia). I told my wife that a turtle shell is called a carapace, but I am not certain she believed me, so this entry is for her. We found this shell on her southern birthday beach exploration trip last month. She has had it sitting on her craft table ever since, waiting, I think, for inspiration on how to use it. It inspired me to pull out my camera and try to record such interesting colors and textures. I hope my wife will discover a way to creatively use this really cool find.
