Blushing Rose
I went up to check on the tomatoes, looking perky, tucked into their bed and covered with a sheet , and was struck by this blushing rose. Matt and John went up to Russian river Brewery in Windsor so Matt could stock up on Pliny the Elder and John could get out of the house. He would never say no to a beer either....
The new SIM card for the lost/recovered phone arrived, but in spite of using the recommended high tech tool, a paper clip, none of us could get the old card out. We asked Siri for directions which were, insert paper clip in the hole and press in gently. If you have to use force, suggested the directions helpfully, take your phone to the carrier. The only reason they sent a SIM card in the mail in the first place is because John said he couldn't drive....Next request is, please define force. I really don't want to go to the AT&T store.
Thank goodness the verdict in the trial of George Floyd's killer, Derek Chauvin is in, and the jury found him guilty on all three charges of manslaughter...the only possible verdict there could be with the whole thing recorded on tape. I shudder to think what would have happened if there had been any other. I hope this will be the beginning of a new national movement toward police reform, but it is far too soon to assume anything. (I was going to say I'm not holding my breath, but that seemed terribly inappropriate.)
I also heard the comment on the news that officials are 'bracing for an intense fire season' this year. The mere mention of fire season makes me sick to my stomach. There are enough triggers around already without somebody on the news reminding me every time I get in the car or look at the newspaper. I hope our neighbors' contractor was right when he said he was just hoping there was nothing left around here to burn (as he begins work on building a new house on the ashes of the old one.)
I managed to take a little slice off the end of my finger with a mandolin type vegetable slicer. It's not very big but it bleeds like crazy every time I disturb the band-aids. The two finger swipe on the mouse pad doesn't work when one of them is covered, so I will be keeping things short and sweet for a bit.
