Luminous daffodils

It is a beautiful day today, it finally feels like it could be warming up....but it cools down a little in the middle of the week, so I won't get my summer dresses out just yet.

I recently learnt that David our camera club chairman, who is a retired senior police officer, is the police expert advising Jed Mercurio on Line of Duty. I believe he is usually on set when they are filming ensuring that Jed gets the policing facts correct! So now I know who to blame for all those ridiculous acronyms....

I thought that our government were being very slack in allowing people to travel during the Covid lockdown, but seeing all the hoops Gavin and his colleague have had to go through to go to Switzerland for essential business has made me realise how tightly it is being controlled - as it should be, so it's very reassuring. They had to receive an invitation from the company in Zurich with whom they are doing business justifying to Swiss authorities why it was essential for them to go there - this had to be approved by the Swiss Consulate in London (approval came though during the weekend so they obviously work 7 days a week). They had to get permission from UK authorities that this trip was valid and for essential reasons. Gavin has a pre-travel Covid PCR test booked for tomorrow, at a cost of £275 to ensure the result is received in time. They fly to Zurich for the day on Thursday - if they were staying over they would have to have another test on arrival. They will conduct their business outdoors at a hotel and then fly back the same day. Then they have to self isolate for 10 days, and after 2 days another Covid PCR test is required. If you wish to come out of quarantine early under the 'Test to Release for international Travel' scheme, after 5 days they can have another Covid PCR test at a centre approved by this scheme and if negative they can come out of quarantine after 5 days - but they are still required to have another Covid PCR test on day 8 to ensure they are still negative. It's all a rather expensive business but as it is deemed necessary by his company the cost is not considered significant.

For Mono Monday I thought these backlit daffodils in the glorious sunshine were just the thing, they are so luminous and glowing!
