Magdala Gold Mine, Stawell

We spent last night in Stawell, a small town on the edge of the Victorian Gold fields. This was necessary because of our requirement to be setting up at the Expo in Melbourne before lunch time. We had an early dinner leaving ourselves enough time to explore Stawell before nightfall.

Imagine our surprise when we stumbled on a real live gold mine on the edge of town. We had no idea it existed.

Seeing that I love mines, and all things industrial, there and then I made sure we would be up early enough this morning to do the blip before our final drive into the big city.
