Green light

Market day in Lagrasse today, so of course it was overcast and very cold, by our standards anyway. The car thermometer said 8C but the wind made it feel colder than that. We still like this small convivial market. Chef Cedric remembered us from last week and we met friends S and T, and also A, the latter also stocking up with Cedric's products.

We bought boeuf bourguignon which we had for lunch ... delicious; and also stocked up for later with a "shepherds pie" made with duck confit, and some Asian spiced pork ribs for the freezer. We are too bored with our own cooking! I also bought a bottle of Laurent Miquel's local Albariño from the wine shop. We haven't had it for ages (it's expensive at 12.50 a bottle)  but have just cracked it open for our apero. It's so delicious. Looking forward to the next time we can drink a Spanish Albariño.

After lunch I started a sourdough loaf from my new book, but I don't think it's going to be ready in time to blip. For one thing it has rye flour in it, always my nemesis. And I am rather daringly doing the final prove on the newish microwave's bread proving programme. I've used it very successfully for pizza dough before now, but never for sourdough. Time now: 8:15. Watch this space. Maybe tomorrow's blip ...

Anyway, as you can see it brightened up later. But still chilly and forecast to remain so till Monday.
