100 Years Of Videos In Wiesbaden

Wiesbaden has always been an early adopter of new technologies, whereas Mainz went down the Betamax route....

I'm just kidding.

VHS in German means die Volkshochschule - an adult learning establishment.

It's where I went to join an advanced German course, only to find out that all the other people there had no effing idea about anything.  Couldn't pronounce anything, grammar - nope, no idea.  So that was 500 Euros well spent...

If you have the feeling that I'm a little grumpy, you wouldn't be wrong.

I got on a bus today. (Brace yourselves, there's a rant coming.)

I like sitting at the front.  1.) because it's a single seat there and 2.) I can just ignore everyone.

Not today.

From behind me I heard a man say "Bitte, Ihre Maske hoch ziehen" - please pull up your mask.  (Not to me - I'm polite and I wear my mask properly.)  Then 2 women joined in.  "Bitte, Ihre Maske richtig tragen" (wear your mask properly).

And then I heard the reply "Nein, ich werde die nicht tragen, ich bin ein Querdenker". (No I won't wear it, I'm an unconventional thinker).

I turned round.  The "Querdenker" was a man taller than me, who weighed approximately double what I weigh, and given the tattoos he was sporting (certain symbols betray a far right tendency) and his absolutely aggressive posture, I decided "Nope, I'm not staying here".

2 people asked the driver to throw him off.  The driver declined.

Next stop, I got off.

Someone has to take the time to explain to me what the difference between "ein Querdenker" and "ein Arschloch" is.  I really can't see one.

And incidentally, I'm still furious.
