(Greater?) Stitchwort

I was torn between an abstract (hitch in a pattern) and another Wildflowerweek for today’s blip. The flower won out as it is a truly beautiful specimen, so delicate, which we spotted minding its own business on the side of a busy lane. Thanks once again to Miranda1008 for hosting this marvellous theme. Perhaps a different blip tomorrow. Oh! No! It’s Flower Friday!

We dodged the showers this morning, hurried along on a brisk northerly wind, they passed west and east of us while we were out only dumping a quick downpour when we were back enjoying our fish finger and tartare sauce sandwiches.

A bit of gardening was in order this afternoon. I cut the grass at the front for the first time and cut some pathways through the grass as the back. Each year we leave the grass as long as we can before cutting throughout the summer. This way there is less cutting and we get some wild flowers in there.

And anyway, my dad used to say cut it late, cut it as little as possible and cut it high. He should know as he worked all his life in horticulture in Shropshire. Mind you, when faced with a great swathe of grass to cut on a regular basis I think I’d be saying the same as he did.

There was time in the evening for us to play our respective instruments and sing a few songs together. We’re a long way off our first gig.
