WIDE WEDNESDAY

It's Wide Wednesday and this weekend auto racing will return to Road America, America's National Park of Speed.

Here's a shot from last season during the SCCA National Runoff competition. Apparently, this driver took the race title to the extreme and actually ran off the track during a qualifying round. He was going pretty fast, hit the gravel barrier (known locally as Kitty Litter) and made contact with the tire wall. 

The car got bent up some but he was back on track the next day. The real heroes of racing are the mechanics and body men who work all night keeping the racers on the track.
