Rhododendron
Monday today and the weather continues to please. I had hoped that now the wedding is over I might get some sleep but no such luck. Porridge and hot milk at 4.30 this morning and I finally got off some time after 5am. At least I had nothing to do in the morning so I was able to catch up a little.
I took Ali, car windows open and masks on, into town to hand in the marriage schedule - just to complete the wedding formalities. The certificate will arrive in due time.
They're enjoying settling into proper married life, she's on holiday this week so they are able to relax a bit after all the flurry of activity. The dress has been returned to my care to pack away. The decision as to whether it should be cleaned now, or nearer next July, will be made at some time.
We went to the lovely doughnut shop in the arches in Market Street and bought ourselves a treat while we were in town. Cherry jam for me and chocolate parfait for Ali.
Back home I spent half an hour relaxing in the garden, I think I may have dozed for a while! Actually I'm sure I did!
This rhododendron next to the dwarf lilac has been there since before we arrived in 1994. It's really been flowering well this last couple of years after being pretty dull before that. On the other hand my two camellias have both started to look a bit yellow. Time to get the feed out and some coffee grounds will work well too. There's still lots of daffodils to come in the garden and my tulips are nearly at the stage where they are worthy of a blip!
That reminds me, I have some shallots to plant, could somebody tell me what depth of soil they need in a container please, they are round ones rather than long ones.
We had a very tasty chicken stirfry for dinner, a good way to get most of your five a day. I love being creative making sauces. Soy sauce is usually my starting point with Stirfry then it's a random selection of sauces and chutney from the cupboard, oh and ginger and garlic of course.
Bath and early night for me tonight and fingers crossed for some sleep.
Keep safe and well everyone, rules are changing down south, soon it will be our turn.
