The Church's Tribute
We have been busy today clearing our conservatory of all the furniture and other junk before having the windows, doors and roof replaced next week. One of the things I was really pleased about was that I sold our cross/trainer exercise bike via Facebook within an hour of posting it.
Later we went to church for an hour to steward the church being open for people to come and pay their respects to the Duke of Edinburgh. Yesterday we got a request from our vicar to print out the two photographs to go in black 10 x 8 inch frames which were purchased especially a couple of months ago. The church was, at that time, instructed to prepare for a royal death by getting frames and making a condolence book. Guy made the prints which was difficult as the files were extremely small jpegs at low resolution. My part was to print out the prayer on a piece of textured card. These were delivered to the Rectory just at the time when word arrived from the diocese to say that no books of condolence were allowed. I think a lot of people wasted a lot of time yesterday preparing for this. At least the photos were displayed so that people could come in to the church anyway.
Later this afternoon our mood was lightened in a zoom chat with our friends from the South of England. During the course of this it was arranged that we would go and visit them in May when we would have been on our cancelled trip to the Isle of Mull. They will come and stay with us for a week in August.
