..the oldest gravestone I've seen ( where I can make out a date) so far in the village churchyard. 

This year:

* Handel’s Water music was first played on a barge on The Thames for King George I

* The Triple Alliance was signed between the Dutch Republic, France and Great Britain against Spain due to concern about Spain becoming a superpower in Europe. It was signed to strengthen the  1713 Treaty of Utrecht.
