The Letter

It's been a horrible day today. Freezing fog, so not very inviting.
PaulaJ 's blip of the Churchills reminded me of this letter, which was both a treasure and an embarrassment to my mother. A treasure because it was a personal letter from a much-loved lady to a young girl in a time of war. An embarrassment because of the later attitude towards the Soviet Union during the Cold War years. Those Brave Russians had become the red peril.
I accidentally called yesterday's blip a merganser. I've corrected this - it was in fact a goosander. Apologies for this.
