Coming “home” to roost, Good Friday

Not the best image - I need to work out how to take this sort of photo. The light was going, so it’s underexposed. But there’s a bit of a story here, so this is for my record .......

We have a pair of great tits and a pair of blue tits visiting the garden. They both seem to think this is their nest box.

The great tits started nest building 10 days ago (my blip 25 March) and then just as soon, stopped, But they are still coming to look at the box and seem possessive of it - I took the extra this afternoon,

Meanwhile, the blue tits are still visiting as well (and much more frequently), and we have noticed in recent days that one of them turns up in our apple tree as the light is going, and at some stage thereafter flies into the box to roost. They also seem possessive of it.

It will be interesting to see what happens next. We shouldn’t take sides, but the blue tits are trying harder so get our vote at the moment.
