Back in the Saddle....

For the first time in over a year, Wendy and I were able to meet up, drive in the same car and spend a wonderful morning out with our cameras.  We went to the National Arboretum, where many of the flowering trees were starting to bloom and bluebirds were in abundance.  It was only just above freezing with a significant wind chill feeling more like a mid-winter day than early spring.  We walked about 3.5 miles and exercised our jaws, gabbing away.  It was just about perfect.

The First Lady (TFL)  and Mr. President (Mr.P.), the resident Bald Eagles are nesting in their usual location although apparently there is a new "First Lady."  Bald Eagles mate for life unless they are unable to reproduce.  Two years ago the former First Lady had one eaglet that died of West Nile Virus and last year she produced no eggs, so this year a very pushy,  younger female has sent her packing and Mr. President seems quite happy with the new situation.  A wide area around the nest, including the roads, has been closed off so we couldn't get very close to the nest so we will have to be content to watch the Eagle Cam.
