‘Beware The Blackthorn Winter’

So I looked up Blackthorn Winter and discovered that ‘Beware the Blackthorn Winter’ is an old country saying that has been passed down through the generations. It just means a cold spell around the beginning of April when all the blackthorn blossom is out. Anyway, the blackthorn blossom is very beautiful at the moment.
