Knot of newts

Not a Wildflower Week submission today. I was fully intending to find a suitable candidate until Susan captured this wriggling mass of newts when cleaning blanket weed from the pond. Worth a blip I thought.

Another trip to the allotment this morning while Susan was at the osteopath having things cracked and massaged. Peas, parsnips, beetroot, carrots and spring onions were duly sown. The weather was dull and oppressive, more like an August afternoon than the last day of March.

Doreen had hardly been out of her home in recent months with the exception of medical appointments so we decided to take her out in her wheelchair along the banks of the River Medway from Maidstone to Barming and back. It turned out to be six miles, thankfully flat!

We saw plenty of wild flowers along the way so I decided to include the cuckoo flower (Lady’s Smock) from along the river bank as an extra. Thank you Miranda1008.
